I am not sure if I have found the correct word " Shrovetide", please bare with me.
Happy shrovetide this weekend. We always celebraite the first sunday of the fast. In Norway and maybe the rest of scandinavia we have a tradition of making Sweet Buns on this upcomming sunday and they may very well be filled with wippet cream and icing sugar on topp.
My youngest daughter is not home this weekend so she asked me very nicely if I could make them last sunday and ofcourse no problem..

Spring is soon to be here and I came passed this fabrics at Desiree. I also bought the dresden template and I am looking forward to try it on a wonderful charmpack of Verna I have in my stash somewhere..

Some cupcake potholders in progress.

  1. Beautiful fabrics; I have had that Dresden template for years and still have not done anything with it. The sweet buns look simply delicious.

  3. Your new fabrics look so much like spring! - Yes, in Finland we too have the sweet buns filled with whipped cream and jam or almond paste, to fill our tummies before the Lent. It is funny how we have kept the buns and forgotten the fasting after Reformation.

  4. Can't wait to see what you do with your dresden ruler. :o) I think your cupcake potholders will be as yummy as those buns.

  7. Your cupcakes look like they will be chocolate flavour!

Your daisy fabric reminds me of Summer and sitting on the grass making daisy chains. I am so looking forward to the end of Winter now. The dresden ruler is good Stephanie of Loft Creations has a brill tutorial if you get stuck.

It is great to hear of Norwegian traditions. We have Shrove Tuesday in the UK where you are meant to eat up the dairy things of the house before fasting for Lent starting on Ash Wednesday. On Shrove Tuesday you use things up making pancakes. I like lemon juice on mine but the children like things like chocolate spread.

  8. As "Houseelf" said, we have a "Shrove Tuesday" in England. Most people make sweet pancakes, but I prefer to make mine savoury. I love your buns, they look same as we have in Sweden when we visit there, yummy! Warm, with fresh coffee...Ahhhh!
